Today, a bipartisan group of senators introduced the companion bill to H.R. 2550, the Protect America’s Workforce Act.
Like the House bill, the Senate bill would undo President Trump’s March 27, 2025, Executive Order (EO) exempting many agencies from union representation and collective bargaining. However, the Senate bill goes further by including the EO issued on August 28, 2025, which took away union rights from employees in additional agencies.
The Senate bill was introduced by Senators Warner (D-VA), Van Hollen (D-MD), Schumer (D-NY), Schatz (D-HI), Padilla (D-CA), Alsobrooks (D-MD), and Kaine (D-VA) and cosponsored by all Senate Democrats and Senator Murkowski (R-AK).
Meanwhile, the House bill sponsors are continuing to work to gain the necessary 218 signatures on a discharge petition to force a vote on the bill on the House floor. There are currently 216 signatures, including three Republicans.
It is critical that we continue to make sure our members, and their families and friends, understand the consequences of the actions this administration is taking and urge them to join our efforts to fight back.
Please click here to urge your members of Congress to cosponsor these bills, sign the House discharge petition, and do everything they can to fight back against these unlawful attacks.
